The Child Survival and Health Program Manager works with Technical Advisors to provide support for IRC health programs worldwide. The Program Manager will concentrate approximately 60% of efforts with IRC's Child Survival programs worldwide, 20% with programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and 20% with programs in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

The Program Manager will report to the Senior Technical Advisors responsible for Child Survival and for East Africa, and to the Director of Health Systems responsible for programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Program Manager will work closely with a range of headquarters and field-based colleagues as well as representatives of IRC partner agencies.

Essential job functions

1. Work with the supervising Technical Advisors to provide technical assistance to field programs, including: review of proposals and reports; collection and review of relevant data; email correspondence in response to field requests;
2. Provide administrative assistance in support of Technical Advisors (this is not expected to exceed 25% of the Program Manager's efforts);
3. Represent the IRC at conferences and other events;
4. Track child survival grants and budgets to ensure timely financial and narrative reporting;
5. Organize monthly phone calls with staff in supported countries;
6. Other duties as assigned and agreed on.

Qualifications

A. 2-3 years international health experience, preferably in community health
B. Presentation, writing and editing skills
C. Bachelor's Degree
D. Ability to travel 10-20 weeks per year
The following qualifications are not required but will strengthen any application
E. MPH
F. Clinical background
G. Proficiency in French.
