The Job Are you interested in EU Affairs? Do you want to work in a highly motivated, professional team of diplomats and policy experts? We are looking for a political officer to work on a number of important EU dossiers, including agriculture, climate change, employment and social affairs. Your core tasks will include
Analysis and reporting of Romania’s position on EU agricultural and employment and social affairs issues.
Research and support on Climate Change and Human Rights issues

Organisation of events associated with the above issues.

Contact with a wide range of government and non-governmental organisations,
-
often at senior expert level.
Organisation of high level visits to Romania and the UK
-
- Management of an intern programme
About You
You should have:
- Education to degree-level in a relevant subject
- EU knowledge/experience would be a distinct advantage
- Excellent written and spoken English and Romanian with an emphasis on writing
detailed reports to demanding deadlines.
- An ability to deal effectively with Romanian and foreign officials and to represent
the Embassy externally
- A customer focussed “can-do” attitude and excellent self-management skills.
- A keen interest in current affairs.
- Proven organisational skills and a desire to succeed within a results-orientated
team
- Excellent IT skills
The Package:
The starting salary is €760 gross plus meal tickets. There are opportunities to earn performance bonuses and the Embassy has 21 days leave allowance. The position is subject to achieving satisfactory local and overseas security clearances and successful completion of a one-month probation period. The position is offered on a fixed one year contract basis commencing in September 2008 .The job would suit someone dynamic and energetic who wants to develop a grounding
in policy work. An interest in current international affairs and a proactive attitude is more important than detailed knowledge of the EU issues listed above. On the job training will be provided.
