Are you a young journalist interested to know more about Finland? Would you like to spend the month of August next year in Finland learning more about Finland, the Finnish society and the Finnish way of life?
Each year, young journalists or last year students of journalism from 18 countries are invited to the Foreign Correspondents´ Programme (FCP) organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The countries are usually chosen in October for the following year. You can check out later if your country has been chosen for next year.
The Programme includes visits to different parts of Finland, study trips to organizations, media and companies, a weekend with a Finnish family, lectures on what Finland is and who the Finns are. At all stages active participation is important - the aim is a truly interactive programme. The course will be blogged throughout the month by the participants and everybody is able to comment, both current and previous participants.
The costs of the programme itself as well as costs of travel to and from Finland, local transportation in Helsinki, accommodation in a single room in a student residence, and one meal each day will be covered by the Ministry. Applicants should possess a good command of written and spoken English and be from 20 to 25 years of age.
