Internship Description: The Human Resources department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a part-time qualified intern/work study student who will support the department’s staff with a wide variety of Human Resources tasks and projects. The intern’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to responding to general staff inquiries, auditing internal processes, reviewing personnel reports and records for accuracy, assembling orientation packets, circulating resumes, creating and maintaining personnel files, filing, photocopying, data entry and other projects as assigned. Internships are primarily administrative and clerical in nature, but other projects may be assigned as they arise and match the student's interests and abilities.
The internship will be at least three months in duration
and scheduling can be flexible. Internships are unpaid, although
work-study funds are available. Students are often able to arrange
academic credit, as HRW internships offer direct exposure to the
workings of an international human rights organization, close
supervision by the HRW staff and opportunities to attend lectures and
special events relating to human rights.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a
genuine interest in human resources, be well-organized, self-motivated
and reliable, have good phone manner and strong attention to detail.
Relevant coursework is highly desirable. Excellent computer skills
(i.e., Microsoft Office, Internet applications) are required.
How to Apply:
Please apply immediately by
emailing together a letter of interest, resume, two references or
letters of reference and a brief writing sample (unedited by others) to
hrjobs@hrw.org. Please use “HR Intern”
as the subject of your email. Only complete applications will be
reviewed. It is preferred that all materials be submitted via email. If
emailing is not possible, send materials (please do not split a submission between email and regular post) to:
