Background
Malaria Consortium is a leading international organisation working in Africa and Asia as well as at global level on communicable disease control. Malaria Consortium manages a large number of communicable disease projects in a number of countries. These projects range from technical support at central government level to direct implementation of projects for the control of malaria, tuberculosis, diarrhoeal diseases and neglected tropical diseases at district and community levels.
Malaria Consortium is currently seeking applications for a manager of a three year, large-scale malaria indoor residual spraying programme in Uganda.
Key roles and responsibilities
- To lead the strategic planning and implementation of the project
- To represent the programme and develop and manage strategic relationships with key decision makers
- Provide oversight of all project activities
- Manage a number of complex public, civil society and commercial sector partnerships. Oversee project partners inputs and subcontractors activities to deliver harmonized, aligned and effective outputs
- Be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Preparation and submission of project reports to USAID
- Financial oversight and accountability of a multi-million dollar programme
Skills and experience:
- Management of large-scale public health/development programmes in Africa
- Working with Ministries of Health (or other government sectors), including at district level
- Excellent managerial and logistical skills
- Extensive human resource management experience
- Excellent report writing and oral presentation skills
- Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations
- Working for large-scale USAID projects (Chief of Party experience desirable)
- Masters in administration, public health or related discipline
Location: Kampala, Uganda with frequent in-country travel (30%) and occasional international travel
