Urban Community Based Rehabilitation, needs volunteer urgently in Pantharapalya

The project in which they will be involved is with the UCBR (Urban Community Based Rehabilitation) team. The project is to create awareness in a new working area of APD about disability. The area is Pantharapalya which comes under Ward 39. The end objective is to undertake registrations of all people with disability in that area, to start rehabilitaion work.
The process for this is as follows:- Signature campaign for 2 days
- Wall painting to create awareness on disability
- Screening of movies in the evenings
- Street exhibitions
- Street plays
- Rallies with school children
At the end of this, there will be a mass
registration process which will go on at around 6 centres for 2 days. Due to
all the awareness created, people with disability will be encouraged to step
out of their homes and identify themselves with APD. We believe this approach
can be more empowering than going door to door to identify people.
The volunteer support will be required in all these activities. Volunteer
support will also be needed in preparation of materials like posters,
handbills, placards etc. Help would also be required in distributing these to
the people and talking to them, to make them aware about disability. Volunteers
will be given training for 1-2 days on disability itself. This would give them
a deeper understanding of the work they would be doing.
